Kim is a Licensed Counselling Therapist with the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick (CCTNB) and Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She is also a licensed teacher in New Brunswick. Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree as well as a Bachelor of Education degree in both English and History. She continued her education by obtaining a Master of Counselling and Psychology from the University of New Brunswick.
Kim’s training and counselling experience has primarily been in mental health within a trauma informed environment where she has worked with a variety of mental health concerns such as, but not limited to, suicidal ideation and self-harm. She provides counselling to mainly adults and families supporting them in areas such as anxiety, depression, self-worth, grief, relationship issues and parenting strategies.
In addition, Kim has a particular interest and has received specific training in working with survivors of sexual assault. In order to meet her client’s needs, Kim’s therapeutic goal is always to develop a collaborative client/counsellor relationship which becomes meaningful and helpful for the client. She does this with a Client-Centered approach and draws from a variety of other therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness.
Kim is available for individual counselling for those ages 16 years and up in person or by video.
