Voice of the Child

A Voice of the Child Report is one way to give children a chance to be heard in family law proceedings. This is a written report prepared by a licensed psychologist who interviews the child. They are typically ordered by a judge. These reports give information about the child’s views and preferences around custody issues. The child is able to communicate with the psychologist about his or her thoughts and feelings on parental access and visitation.

If both parents are on board, a voice of the child assessment can be requested by the parents, rather than it being court ordered.

The fee for Voice of the Child is $2000 + travel expenses if required, there is an additional fee for more than one child.
