Jill is a Registered Social Worker with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers. She graduated in 2005 from Saint Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Criminology major, and in 2010 from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. Currently, Jill is enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at Renison College University, through the University of Waterloo which is Canada’s first MSW program with a health-focus.
Jill has spent her entire social work career as a frontline worker in various Child Welfare programs with the Department of Social Development including Child Protection, Family Enhancement Services, and Youth Engagement Services. For the past six years, Jill has been working on the Children’s Resource Services team. In addition, she has been a consulting member for Social Development on a Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions Team in Saint John since its inception in 2016. The experience Jill holds has led to her ability to develop meaningful, respectful, and therapeutic relationships with individuals and families. While working from a strength-based, solution-focused, trauma-informed lens, Jill also has a passion for social justice and understands the inequities that exist within society that create barriers to accessing healthcare. Jill believes a holistic approach to counselling is paramount in helping people self-actualize and live to their fullest potential.
Aside from work and school, Jill is a mother of three children who keep her busy, but in any spare moment she enjoys being on the water and reading.
