Dr. Aquilina is a Registered Psychologist who completed her Ph.D. and Master’s degree in the School and Clinical Child Psychology program at the University of Alberta. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and families across hospital, clinic, private practice, and school settings, supporting individuals with a wide range of presenting concerns.
Dr. Aquilina has nearly 10 years of experience conducting cognitive (IQ) assessments from preschool through adulthood, as well as ADHD, psychoeducational, and social, emotional, and behavioural assessments for children and adolescents (ages 6 to 21). She takes a thoughtful, person-centred approach to assessment, using interviews, observations, academic and developmental information, historical records, and standardized measures to develop a comprehensive understanding of how a child thinks, learns, and experiences the world. Dr. Aquilina is passionate about identifying each child’s unique strengths alongside areas for growth, and she strives to ensure that the assessment process feels supportive, collaborative, and meaningful for both
children and caregivers.
In her work with children and families, Dr. Aquilina is known for being kind, comforting, gentle, and non-judgmental. She values building strong, trusting relationships and aims to create a safe and welcoming space where children feel comfortable being themselves. She understands that assessments can feel overwhelming, and she prioritizes helping families feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout the process. Dr. Aquilina currently offers comprehensive assessment services through KV Psychology & Wellness Clinic.
Outside of work, Dr. Aquilina enjoys travelling, hiking, and spending time with her husband and their dog, Goose. When she is not exploring faraway places or the Alberta Rockies, she appreciates quiet, cozy moments at home, baking, knitting, crocheting, reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family.
