Psychoeducational

A psychoeducational assessment is a thorough evaluation of an individual’s intellectual ability, academic achievement, and social, emotional, and behavioural functioning.

These assessments are completed with children (ages 7 and up), youth, and adults to help identify underlying learning issues that may be affecting day-to-day functioning.

What the assessment includes

The goal is to increase understanding of a person’s learning profile by identifying areas of strength and challenge information that can be especially valuable in tailoring support at school.

A background interview with parents about early development, school history, social and emotional functioning, behaviour, and family and medical history. Depending on age, the child may take part in this interview.

For children, standardized questionnaires completed by parents and teachers to measure behaviour and social-emotional functioning at home and school.

For adults, standardized questionnaires depending on the presenting concerns, and observer questionnaires where needed.

A range of standardized tests examining intellectual functioning, language, memory, visual-motor skills, attention, and academic achievement.

A feedback session presenting results alongside practical recommendations tailored to the individual’s profile and learning style.

A comprehensive written report summarizing all findings and recommendations, provided to the client and family.

Effective June 1, 2026, the fee for this assessment is $3,400 and includes testing for ADHD.
