This type of therapy utilizes creative processes involving drama, art, music, movement, storytelling, and play. The utilization of these processes help individuals reduce anxiety and hypersensitivity, to express and process difficult emotions such as anger, sadness, loss, and grief, and to increase emotion-regulation skills, social skills, cognitive flexibility, and self-esteem. The creative arts therapist seeks to foster a collaborative therapeutic environment in which creative activities are selected and adapted based on the specific needs of each individual.
While creative arts therapy is an appropriate and effective therapeutic modality for individuals of any age, our creative arts therapist’s primary focus is working with children and youth with cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties, as well as working with adults with developmental disabilities.
The fee for this type of therapy is $125 per session.
