Melissa is a Licensed Counselling Therapist Candidate (LCT-C) with the College of Counselling Therapist of New Brunswick and a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She is committed to creating a therapeutic space for clients that fosters trust and safety. Melissa’s therapeutic framework is firmly rooted in strength-based approaches. She believes in resiliency and works with clients to discover and enhance what individuals are already doing to help. While Melissa works with clients experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, such as anger, emotional imbalance, prolonged grief, relationship difficulties, and stress, her work focuses on treating anxiety and depression in children and adults.
Drawing from well-supported treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness approaches, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Play Therapy approaches, Melissa works collaboratively with clients creating goals and treatment objectives that are best suited to the clients needs. As a stand alone treatment approach, or in combination with psychopharmacological treatments, Melissa is dedicated to working with clients towards meaningful change.
