Melissa is a Licensed Counselling Therapist – Candidate (LCT-C) with the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick (CCTNB) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She is committed to creating a therapeutic space for clients that fosters trust and safety.
Melissa’s therapeutic framework is firmly rooted in strength-based approaches. She believes in resiliency and works with clients to discover and enhance what individuals and couples are already doing to help. While Melissa works with clients experiencing a wide range of concerns, such as anger management, emotional imbalance, prolonged grief, relationship difficulties, couples communication skills, and stress, her work focuses on treating anxiety and depression in children and adults.
Drawing from well-supported treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness approaches, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Emotion- Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Methods, and Play Therapy approaches, Melissa works collaboratively with clients creating goals and treatment objectives that are best suited to the client’s needs. As a stand alone treatment approach, or in combination with psychopharmacological treatments, Melissa is dedicated to working with clients towards meaningful change.
Melissa is available for couples counselling as well as individual counselling for youth (ages 12 and up), and adults. She offers sessions in person, by phone or video.
